Portrait of Moa Martinson
In 2024, a project about famous people from Östgötland was started together with Linköpings Illustratörskollektiv, where each person is portrayed by an illustrator.
In connection with the exhibition Moa Martinson – Åter till industristaden at Norrköpings stadsmuseum, the Moa portrait is sold in the museum shop as posters and postcards. The portrait also hangs at Café Moa, right next to the museum.
Moa Martinson (1890–1964) was a Swedish writer and one of the most prominent figures in Swedish working-class literature. Growing up in and around Norrköping was marked by poverty and tough conditions. Through her often autobiographical descriptions, she gave space to those who previously had no voice in society. Martinson was a norm-breaker for her time in highlighting the lives and conditions of the lower class and working-class women during the first half of the 20th century and has come to have great significance for today's feminism.
